Author Han Kang has the honor of being selected as this year's Nobel Prize in Literature winner.
The organizers praised Han Kang as an “innovator of modern prose,” and Mats Malm, Secretary General of the Swedish Academy, said:
“Her powerful poetic prose confronts historical trauma and exposes the fragility of human life,” he said, explaining why author Han Kang was chosen as the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Author Han Kang, who grew up in a literary family as the daughter of novelist Han Seung-won, became the first Korean to win the Booker Prize, one of the world's top three literary awards, in 2016, and last year, she won the Prix Médicis, one of France's top four literary awards.
