Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour with Koryo people

On October 23rd, Sakhalin and Koryo compatriots who are students at the Onehada Korean Language School participated in the ‘Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour.’

This event is a special event of the National Heritage Administration, and is a wonderful night program where you can tour Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, under the moonlight while enjoying traditional performances. This program, which is now in its 14th year, is so popular that tickets sell out quickly every year.

Every year, the National Heritage Promotion Agency provides opportunities for socially disadvantaged people to introduce the palace culture to more people. Onehada Korean Language School was invited to participate in this special event.

Exploring Changdeokgung Palace and experiencing traditional culture

This tour, which was conducted as part of the Oneahada Korean Language School's 'Korean Culture Tour', was a walk around and appreciating the beautiful Changdeokgung Palace with explanations from professional commentators. Participants started from the main gate, Donhwamun, and enjoyed the beautiful night view of Changdeokgung Palace, including Injeongjeon, Huijeongdang, Nakseonjae, and the rear garden. In the rear garden, you can see a reenactment of the king and queen's walk, and at Yeongyeongdang, traditional music and dance performances were also held.

Providing a special experience to our compatriots

A Sakhalin compatriot who participated in this event expressed his feelings of emotion, saying, "I usually stay at home and don't have a chance to experience Korean culture, but walking around the palace and watching traditional performances like this helped me understand Korea better. I'm really grateful."

The 'Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour' provided a valuable opportunity to experience Korean history and culture firsthand and left attendees with unforgettable memories.
